“Any intervention will aggravate further the deteriorated security conditions and undermine peace not only between Turkey and Iraq but in the whole Middle East,” warned the head of the neighboring countries affairs department at the Iraqi Foreign Ministry Ambassador Taha Mahmoud.

Mahmoud’s statement was made after the second session of the Preparatory Meeting for Interior Ministers of Iraq’s Neighboring States which will conclude its activities later on today.

He affirmed that there “is no true dispute between both countries (Iraq and Turkey) and that there are higher bilateral committees discussing issues that concern both parties.”

The Iraqi official said his country is keen on settling all issues rising between the Kurdistan Labor Party and Turkey and reiterated the importance of solving them with peaceful means.

He said Iraq is keen on pursuing the principle of non-interference in neighboring countries’ affairs in respect to their sovereignty.
