Gaza : A spokesman for the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) said on Sunday that any agreements reached between Israel and the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) would not be obligatory for the Islamic movement.
“Hamas will resist these deals and will oppose them whatever the price was,” spokesman Ayman Taha said in a statement faxed to the press.
Taha warned against the “shuttle meetings between (Salam) Fayyad (prime minister of Palestinian caretaker government) and the Israeli leaders,” saying the meetings come in the context of “the concessions made by Fayyad government to the enemy and the mutual coordination of stances.”
Fayyad is set to meet Speaker of the Israeli parliament Dalia Itzik and several ministers as part of broadening the dialogue between the two peoples,” according to an Israeli spokesman.
The office of Itzik said the meeting, the second such one this month, was part of the talks with moderate Palestinian leaders.
Palestinian agricultural minister, Mahmoud al-Habbash, was also scheduled to meet his Israeli counterpart today to coordinate delivering vegetables and fruits to Gaza Strip.
Hamas took over the Gaza Strip in June by routing out pro-Fatahsecurity forces. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas of Fatah has fired the Hamas-led government in June following the “Gaza coup” and appointed Fayyad to for the caretaker government.
Israel announced Gaza Strip an enemy entity due to the continuation of rocket attacks on Israeli settlements around the territory.
