New Delhi : Top corporate companies will help raise money for charity when they take part in the Vodafone Half Marathon here Sunday, organisers said here Monday.
Various initiatives like the Dream Team, the Corporate Challenge and the Pledger’s United will provide avenues for doing their bit by supporting a cause.
Around 41 companies have formed 51 teams and will raise fund in excess of Rs.12 million from the event.
A Dream Team, would comprise of a select group of individuals who commit to raising at least Rs.100,000 in pledges.
A group of companies that contribute a minimum of Rs.156,000 and send a group of 30 employees to participate in the event would have what the organisers call ghe Corporate Challenge.
The Pledgers’ United is for everyone who would like to do his bit and run for a cause of his choice by raising pledges for the same. One can participate as an individual or as a team member of a school, college, community or residential society via a group entry, and make a difference.
Up to 20 corporates can form a team each to participate in the Corporate Sporting Challenge – a relay race will be conducted within the Half Marathon race.
Each of the teams will comprise of four members. Each team member will cover a distance of approximately five km. The teams will be timed using the Chip Timing device.
At each distance breaker within the relay, a team member has to handover the timing chip to his/her next team runner. The final member of each team must cross the Finish line with the timing strap on his ankle.
A team whose chip timing is not recorded at each chip timing mat, including start and finish mats, will be disqualified.
The Winning Team will receive a trophy and a certificate. Individual members will receive medals and certificates. The Runner-up Team will receive certificate with individual members receiving medals and certificates.
