Margi/Kishtwar : It was politics at galore as legislator and politicians rushed to Margi Village of Marwah tehsil, which was damaged in a fire incident, to `supervise’ relief and rescue operation and express `sympathies’ with the victims.

Every legislator and politician – who visited this destroyed village – was busy in publishing the `good work’ being done by his party and why not sympathies were getting a good reaction from the tragedy struck villagers, who were responding with slogans and praises.

Irony of the matter was seen at Kishtwar Airport – constructed years ago and now being used as helipad by the army – where Indian Air Fore (IAF) and army authorities were forced to unload relief material out of MI-17 chopper only to accommodate some politicians, who were eager to rush to the village.

Eyewitnesses told News Agency of Kashmir that some political leaders created a scene on the helipad this morning when they insisted that they should be accommodated in the chopper carrying relief items.

Marta Kya Nahin Karta, a senior officer from the district administration later suggested that the relief material would be sent in the next sortie as the visit of these `Naitas’ was more essential at this crucial juncture.

The Naitas were accommodated at the cost of relief material, which was later sent by the authorities in the next sortie, sources disclosed to NAK.

The scene was almost same in the affected village. As their villagers were searching for remains in the debris of their houses, politicians were lining up to `express’ sympathies with the affected.

The inhabitants of nearby villages, who were present in large number in the village, were adding colours to the atmosphere. PDP Zindabad, Congress Zindabad and NC Zindabad slogans were filling the air, which was polluted with the smoke still coming out of the residential structures.

“Oh Ho Ye Bichari Mavaishe. In Ka Kya Kasoor Tha?, said one of the excited Naita, while pointing towards bodies of domestic animals charred in the devastating fire.

Villagers know the politics being played at this crucial juncture but are helpless. “We have lost everything and destiny has forced us to stretch our hands before these leaders”, said middle aged Rusal Lone. “Let’s see what destiny has more in store for us”, he adds with a sigh.
