Amravati (Maharashtra) : President Pratibha Patil will visit Amravati, her post-marital hometown, on Oct 13 for the first time after taking the country’s highest office two months ago.
Patil will be accorded a grand felicitation in the city that she represented thrice in the Maharashtra legislature and once in the Lok Sabha, her husband Devisingh Shekhawat told reporters here Sunday.
A felicitation committee comprising people’s representatives from all five districts of western Vidarbha in Maharashtra was constituted under the stewardship of noted social worker Nirmala Deshpande.
The district’s guardian minister Sunil Deshmukh, who had called a meeting for the purpose earlier in the day, will be convener of the committee.
The president will leave for Hyderabad the next day after an overnight stay here.
She is expected to visit the famous Ambabai temple here during the day, which will be the second day of the navratri festival.
