Chennai, Sep 25 (IANS) The British Council is holding an essay writing competition for teachers and research scholars in India and other south Asian countries on corporate social responsibility projects in the region.
The competition will have a prize money of Rs.500,000. The best writer will get Rs.300,000 and two runner-ups will take home Rs.100,000 each.
“Corporate social responsibility is a crucial element to foster sustainable and equitable development worldwide,” the organisation said Tuesday, announcing the competition.
The aim of this project – titled ‘Corporate Social Responsibility: Curriculum Development, Teaching and Research’ – is to contribute towards the teaching and research of corporate social responsibility in management and business schools, it said.
The lead partners of this project are the Centre for Corporate Governance and Citizenship (CCGC), Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIM-B), and the International Centre for Corporate Social Responsibility (ICCSR), Nottingham University Business School.
The last date for submitting the essays is Nov 15 and the awards will be given away on Jan 3 and 4, 2008, in Bangalore.
The cases submitted should be original, unpublished works of the authors who should be able to assert their claim to its intellectual property and agree not to submit the case for publication or other dissemination until after the results of the competition are announced in January 2008, the council said in a release.
The British Council, Britain’s international organisation for educational opportunities and cultural relations, is active in 109 countries and 227 towns and cities worldwide.
