The official told a local newspaper, Albanian print, that a Serbian decision to organize parliamentary elections in Kosovo is crossing of red line and an act which would provoke Albanian leaders in Kosovo. The current situation, he warned, could not stand such agitation.

Ruecker considered Belgrade’s decision an attempt to increase tensions in Kosovo.

UN resolution 1244 indicates that no elections are to be held on Kosovo territory except under UN supervision, which is lacking in the Serbian parliamentary elections.

The official said that though it is hard to stop the voting, the UNMIK can declare the results null and void, which is a very likely scenario, to spare any violent reaction on the Albanian side.

Belgrade’s stating that Kosovo is to be covered by the parliamentary elections process, with actual vote due May 11, is a political trial for Albanian leadership in Kosovo after their newly declared independence.
