Deputy Foreign Ministry spokesman Andreas Peschke announced during a routine press briefing that during his stay in Poland, Steinmeier will meet with his Polish counterpart Radoslaw Sikorski and Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

Talks will focus on bilateral and European themes as well as international issues, he added.

Peschke stressed that Steinmeier’s trip to Poland was aimed at “further deepening German-Polish partnership”.

Relations between Berlin and Warsaw improved in recent months after having deteriorated in the past two years over a series of deep differences on German-Russian energy cooperation and German legal claims dating back to World War II.
