Intelligence reports claim suspected separatists have begun to transfer weapons in preparation of launching an attack especially in Yaha district and Bannang Sata district in Yala province, the Bangkok Post said on its website.

Locals are also warned that April marks the 4th anniversary of the so-called “Krue Se massacre” in which dozens of militants holed up inside the mosque were shot and killed by heavily armed personnel.

Early on Monday morning, three bombs were triggered in Jo Ai Rong district in Narathiwat province, causing a blackout in the entire district. No injuries were reported.

Thailand’s three southernmost provinces — Yala, Narathiwat and Pattani have been troubled with insurgency-related violence which has claimed more than 3,000 lives since it resumed in early 2004.
