Steinmeier, ElBaradei to open int’l confab on nuclear fuel supply

Berlin : German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier and the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency Mohammad ElBaradei are to inaugurate Thursday an international conference on nuclear fuel supply in Berlin, the foreign ministry announced Tuesday.

More than 80 representatives and experts from 32 countries are to attend the two-day meeting which is jointly hosted by Germany, Britain and Netherlands.

The main objective of the conference is to open a dialogue among states on the question of nuclear fuel supply, according to the German Foreign Ministry.

Germany has repeatedly pressed for the so-called multilaterization of the nuclear fuel cycle’.

In other related news, Steinmeier is to meet with ElBaradei to discuss the Iranian nuclear program as well as the global the non-proliferation policy.
