Directives issued for conservation-cum-development plan for primitive tribes in MP

Bhopal: Directives have been issued to the concerning officers in connection with funds allocated for conservation-cum-development schemes for primitive tribes for the year 2007-08 in Madhya Pradesh.

According to directives, they have been asked to approve on priority basis the schemes under this Rs. 10 crore plan. Principles laid down by the Union Government have also been incorporated in it, an official Press release said.

As per the directives issued by the Union Government, training of drivers, security guards, tailors etc under the head of training and employment can be included in the regular scheme of Vocational Training Centre by the state government.

Similarly, directives have been issued to ensure arrangement of rain-water harvesting in the houses to be constructed for members of primitive tribes. Coordination of agriculture and irrigation schemes should be done in watershed area in such a way that agricultural lands can be irrigated by forming check dam and irrigation pit. Nutrition programme should be coordinated with Anganwadis. Apart from ensuring supply of quality seeds and fertilisers under Farmers Development Programme, farmers should be imparted training so that they can understand which crops would be suitable to their fields as per quality of soil there.

As per the directives given in the light of the guidelines from the Union Government, the remaining funds under training head can be spent in housing head. Therefore, the target for providing houses to homeless people should be revised. Houses costing Rs. 35000 each are to be provided to homeless people.
