New Delhi: Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) is introducing from this 2008 academic year a number of professional courses for those who have cleared Class X.
The university is offering certificate courses in photography, commercial art, calligraphy, pottery and painting are some of the programmes for students immediately after Class X. The duration of these courses may vary from six months to a year and to get admission in these courses, applicants will have to face an entrance test and an interview.
The sale of forms and prospectus for these courses has begun. The prospectus and forms have been made available on JMI’s website www.jmi.nic.in as well as on the campus. The finalisation of the process, however, will take about two months. This has been decided keeping in view the fact that results of most of the Class X examinations conducted by different boards across the country have not come.
Besides these courses, JMI is offering Class XII passouts various other courses including physiotherapy, law, MBA, B.E., B.Ed., architecture, mass communication, social work, television journalism, business studies, cartography, remote sensing, photography and applied arts. Courses in languages like French, Russian, Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, Arabic, Uzbek, Pashto and Turkish are also a big draw for students. The university offers a total of 205 courses, both regular and part-time, at different levels.
