Kadish, 83, who worked as a mechanical engineer for the US Army’s Armament Research Centre from 1979 to 1985, has been charged with “conspiring to disclose documents related to the national defence of the United States to the government of Israel; one count of conspiring to act as an agent of the government of Israel; one count of conspiring to hinder a communication to a law enforcement officer; and one count of conspiring to make a materially false statement to a law enforcement officer,” the Justice Department said in a statement Tuesday.

The various documents contained information concerning US nuclear weaponry, the sale of a modified version of the F-15 fighter jet to unnamed Middle Eastern countries, and the US Patriot missile air defence system.

On numerous occasions, Kadish is believed to have taken classified documents to his home in New Jersey where he provided the documents to be photographed by an unnamed “co-conspirator” at the Israeli Consulate General in New York City, and is believed to have remained in touch with the unidentified Israeli handler until March of this year, according to the Justice Department.

The unidentified contact is said to be the same one who dealt with US Naval officer Jonathan Jay Pollard who is currently serving a life term for spying for the Israeli government.
