Abu Dhabi : When its inaugural flights to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) land at Abu Dhabi International Airport late Wednesday night, India’s Jet Airways will become the 37th airline to operate from the UAE capital.
“We are happy that Abu Dhabi has been selected by Jet Airways as its first destination into the UAE, and we are certain that these services will benefit both UAE and Indian businesses, expatriate residents and tourists alike,” Mohammed Al Bulooki, Abu Dhabi Airports Company’s director of marketing and communications, said in a statement here Wednesday.
The inaugural non-stop flight will leave Mumbai at 9.35 p.m. local time (LT) and arrive in Abu Dhabi at 11.25 p.m. LT. It will then depart from Abu Dhabi at 12.15 a.m. LT and arrive in Mumbai at 4.50 a.m. LT.
From the Indian capital, New Delhi, another aircraft will depart at 9 p.m. LT and arrive in Abu Dhabi at 11:35 p.m. LT. The return flight will depart Abu Dhabi at 12.25 LT and reach New Delhi at 5.20 p.m. LT.
The airline is offering non-stop, daily flights between Abu Dhabi and the two Indian metros.
“International air services are the backbone of progress and we are confident that Jet Airways flights into Abu Dhabi will further strengthen the existing bond between the emirate of Abu Dhabi, the UAE and India,” said Fareed Al Alawi, Jet Airways’ vice-president for Middle East.
The airline said that services from Abu Dhabi to Mumbai and New Delhi would be offered at one-way special introductory prices.
A welcome ceremony for the inaugural flights was also held here Wednesday.
There are around 1.4 million expatriate Indians in this Gulf nation.
