Kabul : One ISAF soldier was killed and two others wounded in an attack by miscreants in southern Afghanistan, the foreign military said on Tuesday. ISAF spokesperson in Kabul Carlos Branco did not mention the exact location of the incident. He expressed his heartfelt sympathies with families and friends of those killed and injured in the attack.
Names and nationalities of the dead and injured soldiers were not released on the grounds that it was against ISAF policy to release names before the relevant national authority does so.
Meanwhile, the US-led coalition troops claimed killing several Taliban and arresting 14 others during an engagement in the country’s western province of Nimroz.
Coalition forces conducted a search of compounds in Khashrod district targeting a militant engaged in the movement of weapons and fighters in the area, said a statement. Coalition forces came under fire by rocket-propelled grenades and machine guns and quickly responded with small-arms fire and air strikes. During the operation, several militants were killed and 14 more were captured alive, said the statement.
