Bhopal : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will launch a three-day nationwide agitation Aug 11 in support of protests in Jammu and Kashmir over the Amarnath land row, party leader M. Venkaiah Naidu said here Saturday.
Naidu told reporters that the party’s MPs, legislators, leaders and workers would court arrest to protest the Jammu and Kashmir government’s decision to take back the land alloted to the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board.
The state government had initially alloted the land to the shrine management for providing facilities to pilgrims. Following protests in the Kashnmir valley, it rescinded the decision, sparking protests in the Jammu region.
Naidu accused the central and the state governments of surrendering before separatist and communal forces.
“We support the Jammu agitation as it has become a people’s movement,” he asserted.
