Software engineer commits suicide under work pressure

Pune : Unable to cope with the work pressure, a young software engineer committed suicide by jumping from the seventh floor of his office building here, the police said.

Twentysix-year-old Sandeep Shelke, employed as a team manager with leading software outsourcing company Persistent Systems Pvt. Ltd., had informed his brother late Wednesday night about his decision minutes before taking the extreme step.

Sandeep had sent an SMS to his brother about not being able to cope with the work load half an hour before jumping to death, police sub-inspector U.K. Yadav told IANS. “He had also left a similar hand written note in his pocket,” Yadav said.

He had been working with Persistent Systems for the last five years and had visited the US for a few projects of the company. His brother also works in Pune with Mahindra Tech and their parents live in Ahmednagar near Pune.

Meanwhile, the Persistent Systems management refused to talk to the press, saying they would issue a press note soon.
