Mumbai: While some forces are hell bent to divide communities, some Mumbai Muslim youths have offered an excellent example of humanity and communal harmony when they saved the life of a fruit vendor Hari Shankar Yadav. And in the process they themselves were seriously injured.
On Monday night three people who were drunk bought some fruit from Hari Shankar Yadav, a resident of Inder Nagar who sells fruit at the Huzuri turning. But the three people didn’t pay him. When he asked for the money, they started beating him. It was when some Muslim youths intervened and saved Yadav.
The miscreants dispersed then only to regroup themselves. Soon they were back in a group of ten men armed with “Chapad” a special type of knife used by butchers. They attacked the Muslim youths who had protected the fruit vendor from the drunkards. Those who got injured were Shahid Ahmad (24), Mushin Muqim Khan (24) and Sarfarz (19), says a report in the Urdu daily The Inquilab.
They were later admitted in the nearby hospital. The miscreants gathered more people and a mob of twenty five men tried to attack the injured in the hospital also. Police was called in immediately. The police caught hold of Vinod Ausad, Prem Subhash and Vinay with the knives.
