Islamabad : A provincial assembly of Pakistan passed on Friday recommended Asif Ali Zardari, co-chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), to be elected as the next president of Pakistan.
The Southern Sindh Assembly unanimously passed a resolution that recommended Asif Ali Zardari as the next president of Pakistan.
Mutahida Qaumi Movement, another major party in the Sindh province, also on Thursday recommended his name for the presidential post. The province is PPP’s stronghold.
The names suggested by Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N), PPP partner in the government at the center, do not include Asif Zardari. Also, a large proportion of Pakistanis are against him becoming president.
