Beijing : India’s bronze medal winning boxer Vijender Kumar will carry the national flag at the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games at the Birds Nest stadium here Sunday.
Vijender is the first Indian boxer to win an Olympic medal. He was also the third Indian to win a medal at the Beijing Games.
Shooter Abhinav Bindra shot India’s first individual gold medal and wrestler Sushil Kumar also won a bronze.
Vijender lost his semi-final bout to Cuban Emilio Correa Bayeaux in the semi-finals of the middleweight (75kg) category to settle for the bronze medal here Friday.
