Colombo : The Department of Government Information has made all necessary arrangements to post the official results of the elections for the North Central and Sabaragamuwa Provincial Councils on the Official Government News Portal, www.news.lk, courtesy of the University of Colombo School of Computing immediately after they are released by the Commissioner of Elections, Mr. Dayananda Dissanayake..
The provincial councils election was held on Saturday.
Accordingly, the postal votes will be released first in terms of the four districts in the two provinces. This will be followed by the results of the 27 electoral divisions. Thereafter the number of councillors elected from each political party and/or indepedent group will be announced.
The Department has made arrangements to enable more than 30 media institutions to broadcast/telecast live the results immediately after they are released.
Director of Government Information, Mr. Anusha Palpita said that the results will also be simultaneously faxed to all print media organisations.
The Computer Department of the Colombo University will be facilitating the dissemination of results via the internet.
