“Iran continues its routine cooperation with the UN nuclear watchdog within the framework of the Modality (Action) Plan (an agreement between the IAEA and Iran) in a constructive atmosphere,” Qashqavi told reporters in his weekly press conference.

Iran remains ready to respond to IAEA questions about Tehran’s nuclear activities based on the Modality, Qashqavi said.

IAEA deputy chief Olli Heinonen arrived in Tehran last Monday to follow up his previous talks with Iranian officials, which were held during his two-day visit in Iran on Aug. 7-8.

The talks came after six major countries recently agreed to consider new sanctions against Iran in the wake of remarks by Western governments saying Iran failed to give a “clear positive response” to their latest offer of incentives.

Iranian officials said the talks were “constructive” and would continue such talks in the future.

The IAEA said in a report in May that the alleged Iranian research into nuclear warheads was a “serious concern”. Its next report on Iran is due in September when the seasonal meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors will be held.

On June 14, European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana handed the offer of incentives to the Iranian authorities on behalf of France, Britain, Russia, China, the United States and Germany during his visit to Tehran in a bid to persuade Iran to halt uranium enrichment.

Iran has also presented its own package of proposals, which it said was aimed to help resolve regional and international problems, including Iran’s nuclear issue.
