At his residence in western Jerusalem, Olmert was interrogated by agents from the Fraud Unit, who tried to make it clear the current Head of Government accepted money when he held other public posts.

Judicial authorities are trying to prove the truth of six accusations made against the dignitary, who was Jerusalem mayor from 1993 to 2003 and Minister of Industry and Commerce from 2003 to January 2006.

The denunciations affirmed that in that period Olmert accepted sums of money from the Israeli-US collector Morris Talamsky and also sent duplicated travel expenses reports in the previous administration.

Local media noted the inquiry also expected to clarify an apartment bought by Olmert in exchange for favors and appointment of his friend for a post in a state company, when he was Trade Minister.

The Prime Minister, who has repeatedly denied the accusations, announced in July 30 his resignation by September after the primary elections that will decide his successor within Kadima party.
