Hisar (Haryana) : A boiler drum weighing about 290 tonnes and mounted on a 128-wheel trailer truck has been transported to the Rajiv Gandhi thermal power plant coming up at Khedar village near this Haryana town.
The boiler, imported from Shanghai electric company in China, has had a 1,400-km journey from the Kandla port in Gujarat till here on the twin-engine trailer truck, a spokesman of the Haryana power utilities said here Sunday.
The boiler drum, having a height of over 26 metres, is a vital component for the 1,200 MW thermal power plant.
The drum will now be lifted by heavy-duty hydraulic jacks over the next few days and will be installed at a height of 80 metres on the boiler steel structure, the spokesman added.
