Riyadh : More than 1.7 million pilgrims have arrived at the holy sites of Makkah to perform Hajj, breaking record number this season.
The number of incoming pilgrims registered 1.729,841 distributed over the air, sea and land ports.
This came in a cable sent by INterior Minister Prince Nayef bin Abdelaziz to King Abdullah bin Abdelaziz on the occasion of completion of pilgrims arrival to Makkah.
Pilgrims will spend Tarwiyah day in line with the Sunnah (teachings) of the Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him).
The movement of pilgrims from Makkah to Mina was smooth. The movement of pilgrims was organized by traffic police personnel who were supported by security forces.
The movement of pilgrims to Mina was followed-up by Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz, the Interior Minister, the Chairman of Supreme Hajj Committee; Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, Governor of Makkah Region, Chairman of Central Hajj Committee; and all officials of the bodies serving pilgrims.
Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz and Prince Khalid Al-Faisal directed the concerned bodies to exert maximum efforts to serve pilgrims.
