They will discuss enhancing the level of ties between the EU and Israel.

The European Parliament has delayed taking a decision as to the promotion of the relations with Tel Aviv as a result of the continous siege of the strip.

They are also scheduled to discuss prospects of accepting new members in the union, namely Croatia and Turkey.

The sources ruled out the prospect of accepting the membership of these two countries due to the international financial crisis and the failure to effect the Lisbon Treaty, due early next year, due to the Irish people’s rejection of the accord.

They will also discuss conditions in the Balkans, agenda of the European summit, due on December 11, including Europe’s measures to cope with the financial meltdown and climatic changes.

The conferees are expected to condemn the recent Mumbai attacks and affirm support for the Pakistani leadership.
