Niharika Singh, a student of Class 7 in Carmel Convent School, said that she faced inconvenience as the school closed early.

Normally the school buses and other vehicles are parked outside the school premises on the road. Since the schools were asked to get the roads cleared by noon, they put the classes off by an hour. Those children who come to school with their parents or take a transport other than the school bus faced a problem.

Ahead of the oath-taking ceremony, security arrangements were beefed up in the state capital with the police keeping a strict vigil on all incoming vehicles besides searching hotels, lodges and guest houses.

Several bus-loads of Bharatiya Janata Party supporters along with newly-elected legislators have come to the state capital.

Over 100,000 people attended the swearing-in ceremony in the presence of BJP leaders like L.K. Advani and Rajnath Singh and chief ministers of several BJP and National Democratic Alliance-ruled states. A group of mendicants was also present.
