Brussels : The European Commission has announced here that it will be giving 7.4 million euro for humanitarian aid for vulnerable Palestinians and 5 million euro for vulnerable Iraqis.
The funds will be used mainly for food aid and are allocated in response to an urgent appeal by the UN.
Louis Michel, EU Commissioner for Development and Humanitarian Aid, said in press statements Tuesday that many vulnerable Palestinians and Iraqis depend on the international community to cover their basic humanitarian needs, notably food.
“In these times of price increases and gloomy economic perspectives, they can count on the solidarity of European citizens,” he added.
