New Delhi : Senior Congress leader Karan Singh Sunday said that an alliance between the Congress and the National Conference (NC) would be “more compatible” as the results indicated a hung assembly in Jammu and Kashmir.

“Personally I feel that an NC-Congress alliance will be more compatible. This is my personal view,” Singh told reporters here.

However, he said that the final decision would be taken by the party’s central leadership.

The Rajya Sabha member said the NC is probably more ideologically compatible with the Congress.

“If you see the manifesto of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), it is more radical,” he said.

Alliance of the PDP and the Congress was in power in the previous assembly for more than five years. The PDP withdrew support over the Amarnath land transfer issue.

Election results of 87 seats for the legislative assembly in Jammu and Kashmir were announced Sunday. The National Conference and the Congress respectively have 28 and 17 seats, giving them the magic number needed to form a government.
