United Nations : The UN Security Council called early on Sunday for an immediate halt to all military activities in Gaza a day after Israeli air strikes in response to rocket fire by Gaza militants against Israel.
The non-binding statement adopted by the 15-member body calls for an immediate halt to all violence and urges the parties to immediately stop all military actions.
Israel’s air force launched on Saturday a number of simultaneous airstrikes targeting the ruling radical Islamist movement Hamas’s paramilitary units. The airstrikes have reportedly killed more than 270 Palestinians.
