Pakistan-sponsored terrorism failed in Kashmir: Congress

By IANS,

New Delhi : The Congress party Monday said the high polling percentage and the political mandate given by the people of Jammu and Kashmir was proof that the people of the state have rejected Pakistan-sponsored terrorism and it is a lesson for the neighbouring country.

“There is a very clear message for Pakistan from the people of Jammu and Kashmir who have shown their faith in Indian democracy by turning out in large numbers to exercise their franchise. This has proved that Pakistan-sponsored terrorism in the state and making terrorism a national industry has not succeeded for Pakistan,” said Manish Tewari, Congress spokesperson.

Tewari also said that the people of the state have rejected the call of separatists and now the separatists have to decide if they want to be in the political mainstream or on the periphery.

“It is an unspoken message of the people of Jammu and Kashmir to separatist forces. Their call for a poll boycott was rejected and they have to decide whether they want to be in the mainstream or on the fringes,” Tewari said.

Tewari said that Pakistan is a “failed state” and the primary thing for it is to destroy the infrastructure of terrorism on its soil to make the world feel safe.
