Baghdad : One more American soldier was killed and another injured by indirect fire on Thursday, the U.S. military said on Friday.
A brief military statement said that a soldier, assigned to A 316th Expeditionary Sustainment Command, was killed and another wounded by indirect fire at Convoy Support Center Scania, without saying the exact place of the incident.
However, the area of responsibility for the Convoy Support Center Scania is located south of Baghdad.
The indirect fire usually refers to mortar or rocket attacks in the terminology of U.S. military statements.
In an earlier statement, the U.S military said that another soldier was killed when a roadside bomb detonated near his vehicle while conducting combat operations in Baghdad.
The soldiers’ names are being withheld pending notification of next of kin, both statements added.
The latest deaths bring the number of U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq to more than 3,940 since the U.S.-led invasion in 2003, according to media count based on Pentagon figures.
