Pakistan PM, Sri Lankan FM discuss bilateral ties, regional issues

Islamabad : Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama, accompanied by a two-member delegation, met Caretaker Prime Minister Mohammedmian Soomro yesterday, said an official statement.

“Pakistan and Sri Lanka enjoy excellent bilateral relations and hold similar views on a number of regional and international issues,” Soomro said.

He said that both Pakistan and Sri Lanka are contributing towards promotion of peace and security in the region by opposing militancy and building their economies.

The Prime Minister emphasized the need to further strengthen cooperation between the two countries in diplomatic, political, social and economic fields as both Pakistan and Sri Lanka share a common vision for the progress and prosperity of their peoples.

On his part, Rohitha Bogollagama said Pakistan and Sri Lanka have historic ties and Sri Lanka attaches great importance to its relations with Pakistan.

He expressed his government’s desire to further consolidate the diplomatic, political and economic ties with Pakistan.
