Tehran : Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said here Friday that Iran-Africa meeting will soon be held in Tehran at the level of deputies foreign ministers.
Mottaki made the remark in separate meetings with his Tunisian, Malawian and Burkinabe counterparts on the sidelines of the African Union summit in Addis Ababa.
He said that in the meeting, capacities of Iran and the African states will be identified for further expansion of mutual ties.
Iran’s diplomatic organ chief stressed that the year 2008 will mark the year of expansion of relations between Iran and the African states.
Regional issues and the two-way ties were among other topics discussed in Mottaki’s meetings with his Tunisian, Malawian and Burkinabe counterparts.
The Tunisian Foreign Minister Abdelwaheb Abdallah, supporting the idea of the Iran-Africa session, told Mottaki for his part that his country is ready to help Iran hold the meeting.
He condemned the Zionist Regime’s crimes in the case of the Palestinian people in Gaza and stressed forging unity among the Palestinian groups.
The Malawian and Burkinabe foreign ministers too announced their untry’s willingness to attend the Iran-Africa meeting.
