Beirut : A high-ranking Italian Foreign Ministry official met in Beirut Friday with Lebanese officials discussing the latest political developments in Lebanon and the region.
The head of the Middle East Section within the Italian Foreign Ministry Cesar Ragaglini conferred with each of Lebanese Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri, Lebanese Prime Minister Fuad Al-Siniora and Army Chief General Michel Suleiman.
Ragaglini discussed with them the latest political developments in Lebanon and the region, a political source said in a press statement.
Italian Foreign Minister Massimo D’Alema had earlier called on all Lebanese parties “not to waste international efforts including the Arab League’s peace initiative” aimed at finding a way out to the current Lebanese political stalemate.
