Iran President: women most oppressed social class

Tehran : Iran President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said here Saturday that women are the most oppressed social class.

Ahmadinejad told the First International Congress in Commemoration of Women Martyrs that throughout history women have been subject to injustice and crimes.

“Throughout history women have been subject to different forms of injustice and what we are witnessing today is a new form of the injustices,” he added.

He said women having features as kindness, devolution and patience are symbols of transfer of all virtues and kindness from one generation to another.

Prior to the president’s speech, Vice-President and Head of the Martyrs and War Disabled Foundation told the ceremony that his Foundation has embarked on collecting biographies of women martyrs.

Dehqan said works and biographies of 5,000 women martyrs have thus far been collected.

A large number of non-Iranian women along with their children were present at the meeting, where President awarded 22 bereaved families of women martyrs, including two from Iran and two from Lebanon and Iraq.
