Gaza : Hamas is ready to swap prisoners with Israel if the Jewish state abides by conditions set by the Palestinian resistance factions, the Hamas military wing spokesman said.
Abu Ubeida said in a statement Sunday that there were Israeli allegations “to distort the public opinion which said that Hamas does not want to swap prisoners with Israel.”
He said Hamas has offered lots of sacrifices in the prisoners’ issue and not offering “a free-of-charge deal” to exchange inmates.
Abu Ubeida was commenting on the Israeli announcement earlier Sunday in which it voiced concern that Hamas does not have intention to release Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit in return for Palestinian prisoners.
Three Palestinian factions kidnapped Shalit in June 2006 near the city of Rafah, southern Gaza Strip.
