Qom : A Shi’a source of jurisprudence said here Wednesday Islam, the harbinger of peace and friendship, invites the entire followers of monotheist faiths to live at peace with one another.
Grand Ayatollah Nasser Makarem Shirazi added at a meeting with a group of British Muslims, “The world Muslims need to get better acquainted with the fundamentals of religion and abide by them in a bid to propagate this divine message throughout the world.” He added, “The fact that you are living in Britain today and respect and abide by the laws of that country is by no means contrary with your faith and strong belief in Islam.”
The ayatollah said, “The Muslims should not present a distorted image of Islam to the world nations by not abiding by the laws of those countries.”
Makarem Shirazi added, “Some Western media have been making efforts aimed at presenting an unreal, ugly image of Islam and the Islamic Republic of Iran to the world nations.”
He noted, “Today the people around the globe are inclined towards monotheist faiths more than ever, and Islam, God’s last true religion, is quite perfect and capable of meeting the entire demands of the day of the entire mankind.”
The prominent jurist added, “We need to take full advantage of this emerged opportunity at the service of introducing the real and beautiful face of Islam and the Islamic culture to the world nations.” Pointing out that two groups are trying to accuse Islam of being an aggressive religion, he reiterated, “One of those groups is the extremist Wahabies, who are aliens with the Islamic teachings, and have due to their ignorance about the reality of this divine faith deviated from the Right Path and pave the wrong path.”
Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi added, “The other group is those politicians that present a distorted image of Islam in order to secure certain political interests, while none of the deeds attributed to Islam by these two groups have anything to do with the reality of dear Islam.”
He said, “Yet, there is also a minority that tries to take advantage of the disputes between the nations and their governments, trying to flicker the flames of more wars and case more crises. These include the terrorist groups that have got misleading training at some schools.”
The prominent Alim emphasized, “The Muslims should identify these groups and uproot them as soon as possible.”
He meanwhile emphasized that the world Muslims need to remain closely in touch with one another, and with the non-Muslims, adding, “Such meetings would lead to acquiring better and deeper insight about other believers so that the negative attitudes of monotheists about one another would be eliminated.”
The British Muslims, too, during the meeting asked for closer relations between the Iranian Muslims and them, as well as dispatching Iranian delegations to Britain.
