Cairo : Laying an electricity grid will create new industrial opportunities in the Arab world and integrate the states in the region, said Egyptian Electricity and Power Minister Hassan Younes on Friday.
In a press statement, he said this issue was being emphasized by Arab leaders, stressing the need to take necessary procedures to implement decisions of the Arab ministerial executive council with this regard.
The council had held its 23rd meeting here Thursday at the level of electricity ministers, and reviewed progress made in this area.
The minister said the meeting discussed two proposals that would be presented at the Arab Economic Summit in Kuwait later this year, the first on diversifying electricity sources and raising production efficiency, and the second on boosting Arab investments in the electricity industry and its spare parts.
