Russian Prime Minister arrives in India on Tuesday to boost cooperation

NEW DELHI, Feb 10 (APP): Russian Prime Minister Victor A Zubkov will arrive here on Tuesday to ink five agreements with India besides boosting cooperation in the field of defence.
New Delhi and Moscow have developed several irritants over the years including the delayed supply of Russian aircraft carrier and other military hardware besides demand for increased cost of weapons already contracted by the Russian manufacturers. Both sides will try to smoothen their relations in the field of defence, officials said.

Russia has also offered cooperation to India in setting up nuclear reactors for power generation. India is already engaged in talks with IAEA for finalising Safeguards Agreement for operationalising the Indo-US nuke deal. Before that agreement, civil nuclear cooperation between both the countries will not be possible. Russia has reportedly conveyed to India in this regard, officials said.

Russian Prime Minister and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will hold talks to boost economic and trade ties.

Both the sides will explore ways to increase trade volume from $ five billion to $10 billion by 2010, the officials said.
