Israeli troops steals millions of shekels from money changers in West Bank

Ramallah, Palestine : Israeli troops raided Palestinian money changers across the occupied West Bank on Tuesday, seizing cash worth more than $800,000, security sources confirmed.

The sources said Israeli troops entered the homes and offices of a total of 14 money changers.

They also added that the troops arrested five money changers and confiscated three million shekels ($840,000) in Hebron, Nablus, Ramallah, Jenin and Tulkarm.

Israeli troops also arrested on Tuesday morning 15 citizens in the West Bank(WB) cities of Nablus and Jenin and Ramallah, local sources said.

They added that IOF troops stormed the city and its Balata refugee camp, broke into citizens’ houses and arrested nine citizens, leading them into an unknown location.

In Jenin, Israeli troops conducted a search campaign into Qabatiya town and arrested two brothers.

In Ramallah, Israeli troops arrested four citizens in A’roura village and led them into an unknoown place.

Meanwhile, India has condemned the use of force and called upon all sides including Israel to exercise restraint.

“India has followed recent events in Gaza and the West Bank with deep concern and anguish. The misery and hardship faced by the people of Palestine, especially in the Gaza Strip, is deplorable.

“India condemns the use of force on the civilian population of Palestine and calls upon all sides, including Israel, to exercise restraint,” said an official statement issued by the Indian External Affairs Ministry in NEW DELHI.

“The time to act is now with trust and understanding for a new beginning of hope and fulfillment, and an end to violence. It is imperative that normalcy be restored expeditiously so that the aspirations of the peoples in the region are realized.”

In addition to the assistance already delivered by India to the people of Palestine, reads the statement, India stand ready to extend additional assistance to help the people of Palestine to overcome the suffering they are facing now.

The statement added that a package of such assistance is being worked out and will be announced shortly.
