“Hamas deals with Salam Fayyad’s government and some other powers, which have ties with the Israeli side, as parties that support the Israeli threats and encourage them,” said Hamas lawmaker, Atef Adwan.

Commenting on Israel’s threat to target Hamas leaders, Adwan said if any Hamas leader was assassinated amid silence from Ramallah, “negative reflections will affect the internal Palestinian status and will harm the already-harmed national unity.”

He also warned that Israel “will not endure Hamas’ reaction which will include crazy and open circles of violence.”

Israel threatens to assassinate Hamas leaders in response to the stepped-up rocket attacks that the militant groups launch from the costal territory.

Hamas took over Gaza by force last June after routing security forces loyal to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas who in turn fired Hamas government and appointed Salam Fayyad to lead a government in the West Bank.
