In a press conference Wednesday before leaving Bahrain after an official visit, Abbas urged Hamas to accept the holding of early elections to protect Palestinian national unity.

Abbas’s visit to Bahrain is part of his tour that included a visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) where he apprised officials of the latest Palestinian developments and the state of the Palestinian economy.

Abbas later arrived in SANA’A Wednesday on an official visit to Yemen. He will meet Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh and brief him on the situation in the Palestinian territories in view of the Israeli siege and attacks and will discuss efforts to push the peace process.

The two Arab leaders’ talks will also cover efforts to resolve the internal Palestinian conflicts and the Arab summit to be held in Syria next month.

Abbas is currently on a tour of Arab countries that has already covered the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.
