New Delhi : India Monday said it would shortly test fire its under sea ballistic missile in an effort to add teeth to the Navys fire prowess. The missile K-15, having a range of 700-km, would be test fired from a pontoon immersed in the sea off the countrys Eastern Coast soon, Chief Controller of Indias Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) S Prahlada told reporters here today. “DRDO has completed all preparations for the first ever test of the missile and awaiting Government’s green signal,” Prahlada said. After the test, India would join the US, Russia, France and China to acquire the capability and it would enhance the country’s nuclear deterrence. Prahlada also said that the preparations have also been made to conduct the second test of 3,000-km range ‘Agni-III’ missile. The Agni-III will be ready for induction in India’s strategic command forces after two more tests. “DRDO is getting inquiries for various ranges of Indian missiles from different countries,” he said, adding, proposals had been cleared by the Indian government for a joint venture with Israel to produce long-range surface-to- air missile for the Navy.
