Buenos Aires : The Arab foreign Ministers and their South American counterparts on Thursday expressed concern over the situation n in Gaza in the wake of Israels siege, and called for the immediate reopening of crossings to allow essential humanitarian goods supplied on a continuous basis.
The Ministers, meeting in the Argentinean capital, said in a joint declaration to be made after the conclusion of their meetings later in the day, reiterated support for the fourth Geneva convention in the occupied territories, including Gaza.
They said failure to take immediate action to reopen crossings between Gaza and the Israel would lead to further humanitarian deterioration in the Palestinian territories.
Thousands of Palestinians flocked to the Egyptian border fleeing the Israeli siege, an action that the Arab League Chief Amr Moussa descried as a major obstacle to any peace initiative.
On the Arab-Israeli peace process, the Ministers reiterated support for peace efforts based on the Madrid Framework, the Road Map, the Land for Peace principle and the Arab initiative.
The Buenos Aires declaration called on Israel to withdraw from all arab territories up to the lines of the 1967 including the Golan Heights, and stressed the importance for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
