Tikrit (Iraq) : A car bomb went off Friday at the police headquarters in Tikrit, the capital city of Salahudin province in northern Iraq, killing two policemen and injuring six people, a provincial police source said.
The police were pulling a bullet-riddled car found in central Tikrit to the local police headquarters Friday morning, but the car blew up, killing two policemen and wounding four, the source said on condition of anonymity.
Two civilians were also wounded in the blast, he said.
The Sunni dominated province of Salahudin has been a hotbed for insurgency since the US-led invasion in 2003.
