Malappuram: True to the history and attitude of some political parties and organizations in the country, even half-hearted efforts by the establishment for the welfare of the Muslim community are hardly welcomed.

This is what happening with the LDF government in Kerala. The government’s bid to implement the Sachar Committee report is being opposed by the opposition and the Bharatiya Janata Party. They say that in the name of the implementation of the report, the government wants to make inroads into the Muslim vote-bank.

Several other organizations have protested that the ruling CPI (M) was trying to grab Muslim vote-bank. This, they say, would lead to a different kind of partition inside the state.

The Paloli Committee has already submitted its report to Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan. The committee has recommended several measures to enhance the social, educational and economical status of the Muslim community.

The Nair Service Society (NSS) said the implementation of the Sachar Committee report may land the country in total chaos. The Bharatiya Janata Party has also indicated to organize agitations against the government’s plan to implement the recommendations of the Paloli Committee.
