Oslo : Norwegian security authorities have charged three detained persons of Somali origin with funneling money to a militant group in Somalia called “Al-Shabab Al-Islami,” or Muslim Youth.
Spokesman of the Norwegian intelligence department said in a statement on Saturday that interrogations of the trio, who were nabbed in the Norwegian capital, Oslo, two days ago, had secretly funded the Somali extremist group, a branch of the internationally feared organization, Al-Qaeda.
Chief of the group, named Adan Hashi Fareh, had undergone military training at a base of Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan in early 2001.
Two of the three detained have been freed after questioning and the third is expected to be released later, but the three suspects are expected to stand before court for the accusations filed by the Norwegian intelligence authority.
