Damascus : Representative of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Larijani, appreciated on Friday evening efforts made by Syria to close the ranks of various Lebanese parties and help them reach agreement.
Speaking to reporters after a meeting with Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moualem, the Iranian official who represents the Supreme Leader at the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), called other nations to support Damascus’ efforts to solve the political crisis in Lebanon.
“The key to resolve the Lebanese crisis is in the hands of Lebanese parties,” Larijani stressed wishing for quick settlement of the crisis.
Referring to latest attacks of the Zionist regime on Palestinians, he said, “Measures made by Israel indicate that the regime is not in favor of peace.”
Larijani arrived in Damascus Thursday evening from Cairo, Egypt, where he held meetings with different Egyptian officials including Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul Gheit and Secretary General of the Arab League Amr Moussa.
The Iranian official is expected to meet with President Bashar al-Assad and Vice-President Farouq al-Shara of Syria during his unofficial visit.
