Damascus : Supreme Leader’s Representative Ali Larijani was here on Friday to review issues of mutual interest with Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moualem.
Expansion of Tehran-Damascus relations as well as the latest regional developments, particularly the current situation in Lebanon, was among topics discussed by the two officials.
The Syrian minister briefed the Iranian side on joint efforts by Paris and Damascus to bring about agreement between Lebanese sides and the avenues to settle the political crisis in that country.
He also commented on US measures aimed at failing such efforts and damaging the Lebanese agreement.
For his part, Larijani, voiced Iran’s support for the Lebanese all-inclusive agreement without presence of foreigners.
Larijani arrived in Damascus Thursday night for an unofficial visit.
During his stay, Larijani who is Supreme Leader’s Representative at the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) will probably meet Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Vice-President Farouq al-Shara.
He is also to visit historical cities of Halab and Raqe.
